Pidley Mountain Rescue Team called out to a Begonia BashCranbrook Plants of Somersham held their Begonia Bash and kindly invited the PMRT team along to do some publicity and fundraising. Pidley Village Hall/Social Club the home of PMRTSince 2002 the Pidley Village Hall/Social Club has raised the grand total of £12,290.40 for the PMRT, which is a great achievement. This has been raised by many Dances and Social Events which have also provided enjoyment for all who participated. This has been done with the help of the Pidley Village Hall/Social Club volunteer staff and all the generous people over the years who have given willingly. Mike and Jill keep the letters movingMany thanks to Mike and Gill Pierce of Warboys post office who have agreed to continue their sponsorship of our postage and have donated 100 second class stamps. It is generosity like this that help us keep our admin costs to an absolute minimum. Runners raise cash for local disability charityHuntingdon running club BRJ Road Runners has presented Pidley Mountain Rescue Team with a £2,400 fund-raising cheque. Mystery Donation left at The Mad CatA cheque for £250 made payable to the PMRT was left at the Mad Cat Public House without contact details. The Trustees wish to thank the donor for this generous gesture. It is another example of the support given to the charity for its work in the community. Jazz at the Mad Cat raises £245A Jazz afternoon was held at the Mad Cat Public House, Pidley on the 27 Jun 2009. The event raised £245 which will be used to provide equipment for disabled people. 2009 Broughton Ball raised £1,078.96 for the PMRTOnce again the Broughton Village Hall Committee and PMRT joined forces to stage the 2009 Broughton Village Annual Ball. The profits for the event being split 50/50 between PMRT and the Broughton Village Hall. Both charities received £1,078.96 which in the case of the PMRT will go direct to the charities good causes. BRJRoadRunners nominate their 2009 fundraise to the PMRTPidley Mountain Rescue Team are delighted to be able to announce that the BRJ Road Running Club, based in Huntingdon, have adopted the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team as their nominated charity for 2009. The runners will be raising money for the charities good courses through sponsorship of their races, collecting money as they run and many other initiatives. Further details of the 'BRJRoadRunners' can be found by visiting www.brjroadrunners.org.uk The Pidley Mountain Rescue Team give a talk to the Huntingdonshire branch of the Parkinson Disease SocietyPaul Treadwell, one of the Trustees of the PMRT, gave a talk on the history and workings of the PMRT to the Huntingdonshire Branch of the Parkinson Disease Society at Broad Leas Court, St Ives on the 6 May 2008. He hopes to have increased awareness or the PMRT within the Parkinson Society, while making them familiar with the help we can give and examples of Rescues we have carried out. Our thanks go to Kay Biddle and the Chairman, Phillip Gibbs for inviting us to give the talk. Donations of £35 where given to the PMRT and three people became members of the PMRT Charity. Elvis Night raises £878.Rob (Elvis) Wilson and his Friends performed at Pidley Village Hall and Social Club on 4 April 2009 and the evening raise £878 to help fund future rescues. Anonymous Donor Gives £250 to the PMRT.An anonymous donor left a donation of £250 at the Mad Cat Public House for the PMRT. The trustees wish to pass on their thanks and gratitude. The Church of St Mary Magdalene, Warboys Donated £100.The Church of St Mary Magdalene donated £100 has part of their tithe giving to charities - doing God's work in the community. A Quiz Night at the Mad Cat raises £50.00p.A quiz night held at the Mad Cat public house at Pidley raised £50 for the charity. Our thanks go to all those that took part and especially the winning team who also donated their prize. Bonnett's the Bakers, Somersham collection box made £25.00p.The collection box in Bonnett's shop in Somersham made £25 which will go to our rescue fund. Many thanks to all those who donate their change when shopping at Bonnett's the Bakers. Mary's Tea Rooms, Somersham raises £55.00p.One of the customers of Mary's Tea Rooms donated a doll for Mary to raffle off for charity. The doll made £55 which was given to the PMRT for its good causes. Many thanks to Mary, the donor of the doll and all those who bought tickets. Three Peak Challenge raise £621.50 for PMRT.Simon Green - he and friends carried out the three peeks challenge a tough, growling challenge to climb the three largest peaks in England, Wales & Scotland - all within a tough time period. Simon and his friends raised £621.50 to further PMRT rescues. Well done and thank you all for thinking of us. Somersham Youth Club raise £116.83 in support of PMRT good causes.The members of Somersham Youth Club raised a total of £116.83 for Pidley Mountain Rescue Team Charity as part a local Children in Need event.
