Local village donates Summer Ball funds to Huntingdonshire charity Pidley Mountain Rescue Team

Residents from the Huntingdonshire village of Broughton have donated £1,470 to local charity Pidley Mountain Rescue Team.

10th August 2010

The funds were raised at the village Summer Ball, held in the grounds of the Crown Pub in Broughton, where resident John Ray presented the fund-raising cheque to the chairman of the PMRT, Trevor Peacock and treasurer Paul Treadwell.  Donations were split equally between the Broughton Village Hall and Pidley Mountain Rescue Team.

“Broughton’s donation will support our continual work in funding and providing much-needed specialised equipment to local children and adults coping with disabilities or mobility issues.  We’re delighted that the Broughton Ball Committee chose Pidley Mountain Rescue Team as their nominated charity and thank-you to all those who attended the Ball and gave so generously,” said Mr Peacock.

Out Goes the Old in comes the New

Pidley Mountain Rescue Team gets a new LOGO

2 June 2010

The Pidley Mountain Rescue Team (PMRT) brand has been revitalised and brought up to date with a new logo created by St Ives-based design consultant Martin Phillips, of Martin Phillips Associates, who generously contributed his time free of charge.

Martin explains that he thought it was important to keep the history of the charity and the original humour behind the name by using the two mountains in his design.  “The work of the charity in enabling and improving independence is represented by the free-flowing sweep of the mountains. The two circles evolved from the traditional wheelchair disability sign.  They represent how the charity provides specialised equipment for adults and children while not limiting it just to traditional mobility equipment such as a wheelchair.”

Huntingdon running club BRJ Road Runners present the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team with a £2,400 fund-raising cheque.

 18 February 2010

The funds were raised by Club runners taking part in the Great North Run, Great Eastern Run, BRJ Duathlon, and Grafham Invitation Run as well as individual donations, and club events.  BRJ Road Runners handed over the cheque to Pidley Mountain Rescue’s Trevor Peacock and Paul Treadwell at a presentation evening generously hosted by the Axe and Compass pub in Hemingford Abbots.

“BRJ’s generous donation will have a fantastic impact on our work in providing local disabled children and adults with much-needed specialised equipment to encourage their independence and mobility.  Thank-you to all those club runners for their incredible efforts throughout the year,” says Pidley Mountain Rescue’s chairman Trevor Peacock.

“We chose to support Pidley Mountain Rescue Team in 2009 because of their great work within the local community,” says BRJ’s fund-raising coordinator Maureen Wickson.

PMRT Reaches its 150th Rescue

Jan 2010

OUR 150th RESCUE

In January 2010 PMRT celebrated its 150th rescue with the delivery of a brand new Imp tricycle to Holly Greenhow from Hemingford Grey.

Holly, aged 4, has Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and the trike will help with her physiotherapy as well as providing independence outside to join older brother Oliver cycling around the garden and in the future a bit further afield.

The funds for Holly’s bike were generously donated by St Ives based company EcoLab.  The rescue is the 150th since PMRT was re-launched in 1999 by Gil Boyd.
